The Cherry Tele
Completed November 12th, 2007
There are a lot of Tele's out there, but few like this. Both the body and the neck are solid Cherry wood grown here in Burlington Ontario. I actually cut the wood from the log with my chain saw years ago, let the wood age in my shop, later cut the body halves and neck blank, and then let them age for about another year. The body halves are joined on the sap wood making the seam almost disappear. The neck is made form the same sap wood and glued in place with a lap-joint making the neck to body connection transfer sound practically a well as a through-neck guitar. As a result, this is a Tele with killer sustain. The Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pro pickups deliver that classic Tele sound quack with clarity and sparkling harmonics. The shaped heel makes playing way up high on the neck effortless. Cherry wood has the added distinction of becoming better looking with age. There are oils in the wood that react with light darkening the woods colour and adding warmth and richness.
