Guitar #003

Acoustic Dreadnought with solid Indian Rosewood back and sides, Solid Sitka top, and Ebony fret board and bridge.

This is my third guitar and first acoustic.  It started life as a kit form Stewart MacDonald's Guitar Shop Supply (stewmac.com).  It has solid Indian Rosewood back and sides, and a solid Sitka Spruce top, with an Ebony fret board.

As the kit came to me, the supplied back did not match the sides.  I found a perfectly matching back at a local supplier.  I also changed the head, head cap,  truss rod access, binding, installed the back strip which was not included, changed the fret board to 22 frets with two half frets extending over the sound hole, added binding to the fret board (also not included), used a longer scalloped heal block, and designed a unique bridge of ebony which complements other components of this guitar and is wider to help resist twisting the top.

Completed 7th of March 2004.

This guitar can be seen at Privateer Musical Instruments & Repairs in Grimsby Ontario.
